‘Oxfordshire in 50 Objects – the exhibition.’

Fifty fascinating objects, each telling a unique story, and brought together to celebrate Oxfordshire Museums Service’ half century. Chosen by community groups and members of the Service past and present, this exhibition showcases Oxfordshire’s rich heritage through the memories, experiences and interests of people from across the county. I curated the exhibition on behalf of the Service. The presentation is fully illustrated and lasts approximately 50 minutes.

The speaker is, Stephen Barker who is an independent Heritage Advisor with many years experience in the sector gained through working with a number of museums, universities, charities and other heritage organisations. He has managed and curated a significant number of historical projects. He is currently working with the History Faculty, University of Oxford and the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum. Stephen specialises in military history, particularly the First World War and British Civil Wars.

He is a Museum Accreditation Mentor for Pitstone Museum, a Trustee of the Buckinghamshire Military Museum Trust and a Board Member of the Fete Day Company. Stephen is also a member of the Group for Education in Museums, the South East Museums Federation and the Association of Independent Museums. He ran the Education Service at Banbury Museum for five years, was a trustee of the Battlefields Trust and published ‘Lancashire’s Forgotten Heroes’ – a history of the 8th East Lancs in the Great War.

Everyone is welcome to this fascinating talk, organised by the NN Ladies Club. 7.30pm at the School Hall.

Har-Fest September 10th 2017

Thank you all for taking part in the 2017 Har-Fest  competition 2017 … an absolutely brilliant day with lots of  and winners and everyone having a go and taking part in all aspects of the competition.

Pictures to follow and a full up day of the winning exhibits…

What a great village. As we always learn from each event we will be altering the times of the event so all exhibits can be seen before they are taken home.

Thanks for taking part. The VIG Har-Fest team.
